What is a breaker block?

A breaker block is a failed order block that flips role after a liquidity sweep and break of structure.

How a breaker forms.

  • Price sweeps a swing high or low, taking liquidity.
  • It then breaks structure in the opposite direction.
  • The last opposing candle zone before the sweep becomes the breaker.
  • Price often returns to retest that zone.

Breaker vs order block.

An order block is respected on the first touch. A breaker is an order block that failed, was broken through, and now acts from the other side, like support turned resistance.

Trading it.

  • Wait for price to return into the breaker zone.
  • Look for a lower-timeframe confirmation candle.
  • Stop beyond the zone; target the next liquidity pool.
  • Skip breakers against higher-timeframe structure.
