Education · Price Action

Cup and handle pattern.

A bullish continuation pattern: a rounded base, a small pullback, then a breakout.

Structure.

  • A prior uptrend.
  • A rounded U-shaped base (the cup).
  • A shallow pullback near the rim (the handle), ideally less than a third of the cup's depth.
  • A breakout above the rim.

Target and stop.

Measure the cup's depth and project it from the breakout level. Place the stop below the handle's low.

Inverted cup and handle.

The bearish mirror: a rounded top, a small bounce, then a break below the base.
