Trading the London session.

London is the busiest forex session. Roughly a third of global FX volume runs through it, and many of the day's highs or lows are set in its first hours.

Session times.

London runs about 08:00–17:00 UK time (07:00–16:00 GMT in summer).
The London–New York overlap, roughly 13:00–17:00 UK time, is usually the most volatile window.
The Asian session before it is quieter and often builds a range.

Pairs that move.

EUR/USD, GBP/USD, EUR/GBP and USD/CHF.
XAU/USD (gold) also picks up sharply at the open.

The London breakout.

Mark the Asian session high and low. Trade a close outside that range after London opens, stop on the other side of the range or at its midpoint, and target 1–2× the range. Skip days when the Asian range is unusually wide.

Risk at the open.

Spreads widen and fake moves are common in the first 15 minutes. If your daily limit is 3% of the day-start balance, a single over-sized trade at the open can use most of it.
