Funded Trading Accounts: How They Work and How to Get One
A funded account lets you trade serious capital without risking your savings. This guide covers what they are, the three ways to get one, the rules that come with them, and how the money actually reaches you.

1. What a funded account is
A funded trading account is an account provided by a proprietary trading firm. You trade the firm's capital rather than your own savings, keep the majority of the profits you generate, and the firm absorbs losses — as long as you stay inside the account's risk rules.
At MixFunded, accounts trade on a live-priced simulated environment and rewards are paid in real USDT every week. The standard split is 80% to you, scaling to 90% after 3 consistent rewards.
2. Three ways to get funded
Evaluation
Pay a fee, hit a profit target inside drawdown rules, then receive the funded account. Cheapest entry, no time limit at MixFunded.
Instant funding
Skip the evaluation entirely. Buy the account, start trading funded from day one, request your first reward after 3 trading days.
Pay After Passing
MixFunded's signature route: take the evaluation for a $5 start and pay the remaining fee only after you've passed. Fail and you owe nothing more.
3. The rules that come with it
Every funded account has risk rules. They're not traps — they're the firm's risk management, and learning to trade inside them is most of the job. The standard set:
- Daily drawdown — a maximum you can lose in a single day, reset at server midnight.
- Max overall drawdown — an absolute floor the account equity can never touch.
- Minimum trading days — a small number of active days required before rewards (3 at MixFunded).
MixFunded adds no consistency rule, allows news trading, EAs, and overnight/weekend holds on every program. Full details are in the rulebook.
4. How you get paid
Weekly payouts
Request your reward once the minimum trading days are met; MixFunded processes rewards every Monday.
Paid in USDT
Crypto settlement means no bank delays, no borders, and rewards that arrive the same day they're processed.
80% → 90% split
Start at 80% of profits. After 3 consistent rewards, the split scales to 90%.
One-time KYC
Identity verification is required before the first reward above $1,000 — once, not per payout.
5. Choosing the right size
Bigger isn't better — survivable is better. A 5% month on a $50K account pays the same rate as on a $500K account; the difference is how much drawdown room you have and how much the entry costs.
- First account: $10K–$50K. Prove consistency cheaply.
- Consistent for 3+ months: $100K–$250K, or run several smaller accounts.
- Scaling up: $500K programs suit traders with a long, verified track record inside drawdown rules.
6. FAQ
Is a funded account real money?
The trading environment is simulated at live market prices, but the rewards are real money — paid weekly in USDT. Your profit share is a genuine cash payout, not account credit.
What happens if I lose money on a funded account?
Within the drawdown limits, losses are the firm's problem, not yours — you never owe anything. If you breach the drawdown rules, the account closes; your only cost was the entry fee.
Can I have more than one funded account?
Yes. Many traders run several accounts across sizes and programs to diversify. Check the rulebook for any per-trader capital caps.
