MixFunded vs Topstep

These two firms are not direct substitutes: Topstep funds futures traders, MixFunded funds CFD traders. The comparison is still worth making, because the fee model, the drawdown mechanics and the payout proof are structurally different.

Which one fits you

Pick Topstep if you trade futures — ES, NQ, CL, GC — and want a well-established route into a funded futures account with a 90/10 split for new traders. You accept a recurring monthly fee and a trailing loss limit.

Pick MixFunded if you trade FX, metals, indices, crypto or oil on MetaTrader. A one-off $5 gets you onto a $50,000 Pay After Passing evaluation with no monthly subscription, no consistency rule, no time limit and no news-trading blackout.

If you want to audit a firm before paying it, MixFunded publishes every payout's TRC-20 transaction ID on a public ledger. Topstep does not publish a per-payout transaction ledger.

Subscription vs one-off fee

Topstep's Trading Combine is a monthly subscription. If your evaluation takes four months, you pay four times. That is manageable when you pass quickly and expensive when you do not.

MixFunded charges once. Standard evaluations run $45 for $10,000 to $299 for $100,000. Pay After Passing is $5 to start a $50,000 evaluation, with the $150 activation fee due only after you pass — there is no recurring charge at any point.

Trailing vs fixed drawdown

Topstep's Maximum Loss Limit trails: it starts at $2,000 on a $50,000 account, $3,000 on $100,000 and $4,500 on $150,000, and rises as your account balance grows. A trailing limit protects the firm and squeezes traders who give back open profit.

MixFunded's limits are fixed percentages set per program — 10% maximum on evaluations, 8% on Pay After Passing, 6% static on Instant Funded — measured on equity. The floor you start with is the floor you keep.

Consistency and payout conditions

Topstep caps the best day at 50% of the profit target and its payout policy includes winning-day requirements. If your edge is concentrated in a handful of sessions, that shapes how you must trade to qualify.

MixFunded runs no consistency rule on standard programs and pays every Monday in USDT on the TRC-20 network. Each payout is published with its transaction ID on the public ledger, and a machine-readable JSON feed of the same data is open to anyone. £36,857 has been paid to MixFunded traders since December 2024.
